Construction on The Dunlin is Well Underway
Construction on The Dunlin: Auberge Resorts Collection is progressing nicely!
Tucked into the live oaks that adorn the edge of the Kiawah River, The Dunlin: Auberge Resorts Collection will include 72 cottage-style guest rooms spread among those buildings, each of which will enjoy a breathtaking view of the marsh savannah. The ten total buildings that will make up the hotel’s campus are starting to go vertical. Guests will be able to lounge on the large furnished porches, taking in cool river breezes. Inside, the suites are generously sized and will feature classic southern style with shiplap, deep soaking tubs and wood floors throughout.
The area along the river’s edge has begun to take shape as well. Here, guests will be able to stroll along a pedestrian walk or sit and relax in chairs tucked into the natural landscape. A fire pit and a Bocce ball court are also among the planned programming that will be found near the path winding beside the Kiawah River.
Work on the spa building, with five private treatment rooms, is just underway. A planned garden off the back of the spa will allow guests to relax post-treatment in the serene riverside environment. As with the entire Dunlin project, care has been taken to integrate the spa harmoniously into the ecosystem that houses Kiawah River.
The main lodge is also in the beginning stages of construction. The building will house reception on the ground level and a 130-seat restaurant on the second floor. The reception area will welcome visitors with casual comfort: inviting you to sink down in a big, comfy chair and stay a while. Or you can take in the marsh vista from the spacious wraparound porch while rocking in wicker chairs. Upstairs, the restaurant will feature a screened in porch—again taking advantage of the spectacular river views that Kiawah River has to offer.
Construction on the cabanas set to surround the riverside pool has started as well. Evocative of old-time summer retreats, the 18 rentable cabana spaces will offer guests a more private alcove to enjoy poolside lounging. Imagine relaxing in a chaise lounge, sipping on cocktails, while the wind rustles palmetto fronds all around you. It sounds heavenly!
We’re excited to watch The Dunlin take shape ahead of the planned summer 2024 opening. Stay tuned for more updates!
