Chris Drury

Kiawah River Broker-In-Charge

Chris Drury knows the value of family. When he’s not coaching Kiawah River’s dedicated team of sales agents as the broker-in-charge of residential real estate sales, he’s traveling with his wife of 35 years, Mary Lynn, to visit their 4 children and 4 grandchildren. A native Southern Floridian and Florida State University alumnus, Drury has called Kiawah and the surrounding Lowcountry home for the past 16 years.

Like most agents, Drury’s career started on a different path. After a stint in his early 20s in TV and film production (his then dream job!), he quickly realized he wanted a more viable profession. Forty years later, Drury can look at his résumé and see he chose wisely.

Prior to joining Kiawah River in 2020, Drury served as president and broke-in-charge across the river at Kiawah Island Real Estate (KIRE), where he oversaw the closings of more than $3.6 billion in sales across 2,765 luxury real estate transactions. During his 14 years with KIRE, their market share exceeded 85% as Drury led the sales team to record sales and market growth. Before KIRE, Drury led sales teams in various communities throughout Florida including Weston, a master-planned suburban community in Broward Country, where his team sold over 1,700 homes within one year. During his time at Weston, it was in the top five selling master planned communities in the nation. As vice president of sales, he also oversaw the Saussy Burbank Mid-Atlantic division where his teams predominantly sold spec homes and developer lots in the Carolinas.

Drury continues to share a wealth of professional and personal assets with the Kiawah River family including a healthy sense of humor and positive attitude. In his role at Kiawah River, Drury is a “player coach” – managing the team as well as working with buyers and sellers to help them realize their dreams. We are grateful and look forward to him sharing his wealth of knowledge for years to come.

David Nelson

Kiawah River Sales Executive

Fourth-generation, Charleston native David Nelson grew up around the waterways, weather patterns and wildlife of the sea islands. The Kiawah River Sales Executive and avid outdoorsman spent his childhood exploring the coastal landscapes. Witnessing the growth of the coastal community first-hand David continues to feel a strong sense of stewardship for the marshes, coastlines and land that remains his home.

After studying Business at the College of Charleston and embarking on a career in Real Estate, David joined The Beach Company in 1991. More than three decades with TBC have taken him through Sales, Brokerage and the Development of over 17 new-construction developments ranging in size from $50 million ventures to over $1 billion, from the Lowcountry to the Caribbean. Throughout his career he has consistently been a top 5% Salesperson.

Prior to Kiawah River’s development, Nelson had the luxury of spending hundreds of hours exploring, hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends throughout the 2,000-acre tract. Combined with the wealth of knowledge he has gained from working on every stage of property development, and his deep respect for the land, water and history of Kiawah River, he is as much a part of this sea island setting as the blue crabs that forage along the creek banks.

Nelson is now focusing on property and new construction sales and uses his vast experience to advocate for his clients and as a liaison between them and the Architects, Builders, and Design Professionals with whom they will work throughout the process of attaining their new home in Kiawah River.
