Reflections of 2019: Events & Adventures
By Candice Broyles, Sales & Marketing Coordinator
2019 was an incredible year of progress and connection at Kiawah River. Alongside the new homes and amenities sprouting up throughout the year, we gathered together to cultivate community and establish the family roots of Kiawah River.
We explored with our neighbors, our families and our friends the delights each season reveals in our blossoming new community. From shucking oysters under the oaks to unforgettable adventures along the sea islands with Coastal Expeditions, there were memories that added up to a promise of more moments to anticipate with excitement in this New Year.
We supported our local makers, craftsmen, designers, farmers, and artists; and hosted markets and food truck vendors.
We were delighted by the abundant wildlife, like spoonbills, dolphins, and deer; and welcomed new families to our farmland: cows, chickens, goats and honeybees.
We learned from expert bird watchers, wildlife conservation managers, the library society writers, the painters in plein air, the beekeepers, the arborists, the fly fishermen, the yogis, the goat whisperers… we embraced discovery.
We found wellness through our spring yoga on the lawn and fall 5k, exploring the miles of trails that belong to our home, and biking beyond to Kiawah Beachwalker Park.
We ate and drank very well. Lowcountry bloody mary bars, local breweries, farm to table dinners, oysters from our banks, honey from our bees, goat cheese from our goats.
We celebrated new friendships. Exploring the new trailways, entertaining in new homes, storytelling around fire pits, and meandering along the shoreline. The magic in these moments reminds us of why we all call Kiawah River home — the beauty of warm friendships and living among nature, celebrating the gift of living wholeheartedly. Looking back, 2019 was a year we will never forget. Such great memories become inspiration, and guide us into this new year so full of hope and promise of more great memories to come!
