Events: Bourbon & Friends at Kiawah River

Under the canopy of ancient live oak trees, the Blade and Bow cocktail caravan sat close to the river’s edge and greeted guests with smiles and Kentucky Bourbon refreshments as they gathered across the Farmhouse lawn.

The bite of Blade and Bow Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey is unique. Blended with solera liquid and other fine whiskies, the thoughtful process is finished by aging the golden liquor in charred American white oak barrels. The taste of charred oak and warm winter spices paired perfectly with the cooler weather, and the glow of the fire pit.

Friends of Kiawah River gathered for cornhole games, charcuterie spreads and freshly shucked oysters as they savored the bourbon cocktails.

Live music and full-bellied laughter didn’t end until well after the sun went down. The smell of apple bourbon crumble floated with the breeze, subtly reminding the senses of the season’s greeting.

Guests enjoyed the breeze of fall’s arrival, fixing their eyes toward the river as a blur of pink spoonbills flocked by, a typical scene of Kiawah River’s sea islands living.

There’s nothing like a Lowcountry autumn evening, when the weather is just ripe enough to lose track of time with friends outdoors.
