About Town: PGA Championship Kickoff Party

On May 19, Kiawah River’s homeowners and friends enjoyed a Lowcountry picnic in celebration of the start of the 2021 PGA Championship which took place at The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. With live music by Southside Station, the private party took place under the Spanish moss and twinkling lights decorating the Farmhouse Lawn at Kiawah River. 

With fireflies dancing overhead, the event featured classic Charleston hors d’oeuvres, a Lowcountry boil, buttermilk fried chicken, cocktails and specialty Life Raft Ice Cream treats. Crafted to resemble a real piece of Southern fried chicken, the infamous “Not Fried Chicken” Life Raft ice cream bar was made of a waffle ice cream and chocolate-covered cookie covered in caramelized white chocolate and crushed cornflakes. Complete with specialty Kiawah River packaging, the Not Fried Chicken treats were a feast for the eyes and one of the highlights of the evening! 

Flower arrangements by Lotus decorated the picnic tables as guests mingled and enjoyed local bites from Cru Catering. The event would not have been complete without a visit from goats from The Goatery at Kiawah River, providing guests with a truly authentic Kiawah River experience.  

All in all, it was a beautiful evening to share in food and fellowship, listen to live music and kick off one of the most popular and highly anticipated events of 2021 with good friends.
